Children's Parliament

The National Children’s Parliament allows children to elevate their voices and speak on specific issues to draw attention of national decision-makers. The children conduct research, analysis, and obtain coaching by trainers as needed in preparation for the session at the House of Representatives in Belmopan on November 20th each year. During the Child Parliament Session, child parliamentarians present issues and recommendations for improvement to decision makers and key stakeholders including but not limited to Government officials, donor agencies, development partners and civil society organizations. With the goal to influence decision-makers, this curriculum allows for children to learn to participate meaningfully and become agents of actionable change. Thus, this curriculum becomes an effective education tool to support civic pride, and practice debate, governance and politics through a constructive platform.
